NEED
ATV Explorer, is a company that is dedicated to adventure tourism, it is a very original tour inside the jungle in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Its main activities are ATV tours and visits to cenotes with the possibility of swimming. It stands out mainly for the respect and care for nature and the species that inhabit the park area. The project to be developed focused on the access area to the park and consisted of adapting an existing concrete structure with a natural stone finish. The signboard was worked in simulation of natural materials (wood, stone, adaptation of colors with the corporate identity, etc.), light and long-lasting. Due to the fact, it was not certain that the existing structural reinforcement and columns could withstand the weight of a more complex sign and frames.
PROCESS
Various designs were developed that were adapted to the existing columns. Previously, we made several visits and a survey on site to obtain measurements, materials and the adequacy in assembly. In addition, the design was made with a central sign and two lateral metal frames to place large-format advertisements and promote the company. The central sign was modeled in foam outlining the finish as wooden planks with an internal metal profile structure to ensure sustainability, due to the access length of just over six meters long. Later we apply fiberglass to ensure resistance to elements. Likewise, we manufacture the side frames with a PTR tubular profile structure and cover them with fiberglass, applying reliefs like tropical wood.
OUTCOME
The central sign is a horizontal structure with a texture and finish like tropical wood, fiberglass 3D letters that follow the guidelines of its corporate identity. The side frames have the same wood-like finish and are used to place large format printed advertising banners. Our painting workshop was in charge of making the final finish with traditional and industrial techniques.
